Health and Safety
We take health and safety and the welfare of our clients very seriously indeed.
All tool use and fire lighting is carried out in a very strict and controlled environment. We have a high adult supervisor to participating child ratio.
There will always be at least one First Aider on site with a current 3-year First Aid certificate. All staff have a current Health and Safety at Work qualification, and of course a Food Hygiene certificate if they are a food handler. No staff or volunteers without an up to date DBS check will be permitted to be left alone with children at any time.
We are fully insured. All sessions will be led by a fully qualified Level 3 Forest School Leader and all staff and volunteers are trained in the activities which they are leading.
Each site is risk assessed before any session and every activity has its own risk assessment.
We have a comprehensive, detailed and in-depth operating and policy manual which clearly sets out working practices and procedures for all staff and volunteers to follow and covers every conceivable eventuality. This of course also includes the safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults. It is updated and reviewed annually or as necessary. It is available for clients to view upon request.
